"I've seen on the news that the protests aren't actually peaceful and that they're actually violent riots."

Not all protestors want violence. It’s what they’re working against, after all. At the protests, any time violence has occurred, it usually was not because a protestor started it; most of the time, it was because of a cop’s interference or a rioter who wanted to take advantage of the large gathering of people. Some White supremacists use these peaceful protests as a way to create chaos or destroy things for fun. They are not protestors. Cops have also been spotted damaging their own equipment during the protests in order to frame the protestors.
